“The first key factor to successfully studying abroad is having a clear and specific purpose. You need to know why you are studying abroad.”
This was the message shared by Duong Pham, a young content creator focusing on Australian study-abroad topics, during the workshop “From Vietnam to Australia: Achieving the Study Abroad Dream.” The event took place at Nam Uc Scotch AGS (Tan Phu campus), attracting many students on August 30th.
Duong Pham is one of the famous TikTokers and content creators on social media platforms. She is widely known for her videos on studying abroad, garnering significant interest from young audiences with over 1.5 million followers.
During her visit to Nam Uc Scotch AGS, Duong Pham offered an engaging talk, sharing her extensive study-abroad experience. She provided students with valuable insights as they began exploring future overseas study pathways.
At the beginning of the workshop, the TikToker asked all the students a key question: Why did you decide to study abroad? Most students responded that their main reasons were to gain independence, explore new places, and improve their English skills. As for Duong Pham herself, she revealed that her motivation for studying abroad stemmed from a desire to grow and make her own life decisions without relying on her parents.
So how do you choose the right country to study abroad? According to TikToker Duong Pham, choosing Australia was based on several factors, including geographical distance, climate, educational quality, and the ease of paperwork and procedures.
“Australia is an ideal country for studying abroad because it’s relatively close to Vietnam, and the weather is often pleasant in the major cities. Australia also boasts one of the world’s most modern education systems, with universities ranked in the top 1% globally. These factors led me to choose Australia as my study destination,” Duong Pham shared.
Moreover, the duration of a university degree in Australia typically ranges from 3 to 4 years, similar to Vietnam. However, Australian programs are often more flexible, allowing students to complete their studies earlier if they can accumulate enough credits within a shorter time frame.
Additionally, studying in Australia offers many other benefits. University students can work part-time for a regulated number of hours, closely monitored by the Australian government.
“This allows students to support themselves financially while gaining the chance to explore Australia’s multicultural society, fostering their independence and helping them adapt well to a new environment,” the TikToker added.
Throughout the workshop, she answered all the students’ questions about studying in Australia, covering topics such as academic programs, admission requirements, and even lighthearted queries like how to choose dormitories, transportation options, and how to adapt to the weather and animals in Australia.
In conclusion, Duong Pham offered some final advice to students who are considering or planning to study abroad in the future:
“Many factors influence the decision to study abroad. That’s why it’s crucial to clearly define your purpose. This is the foundation and driving force that will help you successfully navigate your study-abroad journey, even when faced with challenges and difficulties.”
